*Must be 18 or older to apply. NC-17 material is allowed.
Character
1. Stay true to your character. This includes sticking to the canon that has already been assigned through the Harry Potter novels or through the summary of events between the books and the beginning of the RPG. You are expected to have a well-rounded knowledge of your character's background, behaviours, and relationships.
2. Also, remember your speech. While grammatical perfection is in no way expected, absurd spelling mistakes will be highly frowned upon (unless terrible grammar and spelling is a trait that you feel your character should possess). Net speak is in no way tolerated. British lingo is encouraged but not required.
3. Any dramatic plots including themes such as death, pregnancy, rape, coma, marriage/engagement, etc. should be approved by the mods via e-mail (mod.darktimes@gmail.com) or by commenting here before it is to take place.
Posting requirements
1. Journal Entry: Once a week
2. Completed Threads: Once every two weeks
3. Please note, you are not limited to these requirements. You may post and thread as often as you like, this is just the bare minimum to remain in the game.
4. Activeness will be required. The mods do understand that real life does happen and that you may be required to go on hiatus from time to time. All we ask is that you let us know before hand if you can this way your character is not removed for being in active.
5. You will receive two warnings about your activity levels. The first will give you one month to get your participation up. If after that month is up and you are still not meeting the activity requirements your character will be removed from the game.
6. Warnings are sent out on a bi-monthly basis to inactive members. If you have failed to update and do not respond to the warning email you will be removed from the game.
Journal/Posting format
1. All journal entries are to be written in first person, while RPs are to be in third person. Your character's private thoughts should be put under an lj cut labeled ‘Private’. Everything under such a cut will be visible ONLY to your character. Private messages to other characters should be labeled “Private to [insert appropriate character name]”. Everything under these cuts will be visible ONLY to the characters whose names appear on the lj cut tag. A strike may be somewhat decipherable while a bolded strike is unreadable by anyone.
2. When posting RPs please follow this template: < b >Who:< /b > < b >What:< /b > < b >Where:< /b > < b >When:< /b > < b >Rating:< /b > < b >Status:< /b >
2. All RPs must use an LJ cut to disclose the body of the RP. RPs may be completed through a messenger such as msn or through commenting on an open post. Once a thread is complete, please change the Status to ‘Complete’ or ‘Finished.’ The mods will check for incomplete threads.
3. Please make sure that all threads are public. Furthermore, all journal entries should be made friends-only.
4. Game time will follow real time, except the year. For example, the game will start on May 12, 2008, so then in the game, the date would be May 12, 1975.
Communities
1. All players must be sure to use the four communities appropriately. dark_times_rpg is to be used to post RPs, dark_times_owls will be used for Owls and dt_ooc is to be used for all Out of Character posts.
Nit Pick
1. Character icons should be clean and void of text and brushes. If you need help finding icons, ask one of the mods. People will be more than willing to help you.
2. OOC drama is not tolerated in any sense. Remember that this is a game and not to take things personally. If you have any issues with another player, email the mod at mod.darktimes@gmail.com.
3. A player will be allowed up to two characters until the player can prove that s/he can be active with multiple characters for, at least, a month. Having multiple characters means that one character cannot be ignored for another character. If a player is not active with one of his/her characters, but is active with another character, the mods reserve the right to ask a player to drop the inactive character. In short, activity checks are not only player-based, but also character-based.
4. A player can have up to FIVE characters total maximum. A player can opt to drop a character to pick up a different character, but please do not make this a regular habit. Also, a new application is required for each additional character a player might pick up. Just because a player is already in AFM, it does not mean that s/he will automatically be accepted with another character.
5. The mods are more than willing to work with you. If you have any issues, concerns, questions, ideas, suggestions, complaints, etc., please talk to the mods. If you do not feel comfortable confronting a mod, please post here. All comments are screened and can be made anonymous. The mods would much rather you talk to them first before going to another player. This will alleviate OOC drama.
